And now for something completely different…

Thanks to all those who have read and/or commented on my FairyTales Post. You rock! Being featured in “Freshly Pressed” is an awesome encouragement for a blogger, I was really ‘chuffed and puffed’ all day.
…and also clueless about  how to follow up on something so (unexpectedly) big.  So on the off chance, that a few of my readers and commenters have subscribed to this blog, I want to use this attention and blog about something important, something I didn’t really intent to talk about in my relatively new, and – until recently – gently cruising little ‘mommy blog’ :

No matter if you see, hear or suspect emotional or physical abuse;
no matter if it’s a child, a woman, a senior, a disabled person or a man –
talk about it to someone. If you are a victim – talk about it.
Don’t be silent. Talk!
Silence makes abuse possible, makes go on and will make it worse.
And HOME should not be where the HURT is. Continue reading

Bullied by a 4 year old ?

There is this girl at kindy…

barbieI am pretty sure her mother – and the little girl herself – often hears, and has come to expect to hear, that she is “just gorgeous/so pretty/darn cute“: Big blue eyes in a doll’s face, framed by honey coloured hair, dressed in lovely dresses or frilly, girly pants. She usually sits close somewhere on the floor, close to where my boy plays at the end of the day, when there is only a handful of them left.

So I am often a little bit unkempt, in training pants and some dirty sweater, might have the dogthing in the car after a quick stroll or am kind of late because I was too busy procrastinating to avoid any public appearance i.e. go to the shops. And I certainly wear no makeup to pick up my sweaty loud boy, with paint in his hair and his shoes full of sand. Continue reading

Incontinence and the City

Are you watching commercials ? I do.
It seems to me like there is a new approach to certain aspects of female hygiene. No I don’t meant the dorky boyfriend who gets busted by his girl and her parents while playing with her not-so-invisible pads as they walk in on him wearing them as rabbit ears. Although that’s kind of funny.

Menstruation related ads are since long part of our life, and although I am not really looking forward to explain to my son some of the dreamy/funny spots for tampons and pads in a near future – like the one with the beaver (!) which he totally loves… I think it’s OK. Times have changed. My son will be a sensitive boyfriend one day. Or one with rabbit ears.

But  actually, I mean the one  with the Giggling Girls with “Light Bladder Leakage” (for non Australians, link below). Incontinence goes “Sex and the City”? Continue reading
